Day 11: Finding Hope in Unmet Expectations – Remember

//Remember the small, oblong pink-tinged button that dangled from the sweater my grandma couldn’t afford to buy. She did anyway.

The rose kissed oval shape aroused suspicion when I walked. With each step, it hunkered down awaiting its eventual fate.

At the sight of an unhinged button, my grandma gasped in disbelief. “Porque no me dijiste que to lo cosiera?” She wanted to know why I didn’t tell her to sew it.

My life seemed always in repair. I remember the how she sewed it back on and how I walked differently because I was no longer falling apart, so to speak.

I will always remember being repaired.//

Friend, this is Day 11 of a series of posts for the month of October. I’m joining Kate Motaung over at Five Minute Friday for the yearly Write 31 Days challenge. Above is what I wrote in 5 minutes.

My topic is “Finding Hope in Unmet Expectations” because that’s what my book is about as well. On Fridays, I will write you a poem. Each day has a different word prompt. I hope you enjoy.

Today’s word prompt is REMEMBER.
