My topic this year is “Finding Hope in Unmet Expectations” because that’s what my book is about as well. On Fridays, I write you a poem. All the other days in October I will write short non-fiction essay or vignette for you. Each day has a different word prompt. I hope you enjoy. Today’s word prompt is WORSHIP.
My grandma, a warrior of faith
no stone left unturned, no snake let be
If the enemy was going to attack her in her own home
she’d show that snake what was meant by
matriarch – a staple of God’s kingdom come
It is said some don’t grow into their name
it fits like a pair of medias
two sizes to small
In due time, I stepped back into my childhood church and that very day was introduced to a man that would go on to be my surrogate father and officiate over my wedding. This man would connect the dots from my heart to God’s and remind me that my ransom was paid in blood so greatly was I loved. I would come to understand that my value wasn’t tied to a scale and more importantly that there was a place for me in the Kingdom.
