I’m joining #FiveMinuteFriday over at Kate Motaung’s place. The word prompt is REFINE.  Below is five minutes of free flow writing. The forward slashes (//) indicate where the timer started and ended. Your turn! Join us at Kate’s place.

//I remember the sifting.

The vibrations from the sieve created tiny tidal waves in the flour before grandma added the lard – formed it into a ball of masa dough.

I remember the sifting.

The loneliness of another failed relationship. The too taut goodbye – grief.

I remember the sifting. {Tweet This}

The desperation in the offering – I am yours, O Lord. Take me as I am.

And how He created new places of hope within me. Canyons of vast goodness. Wells of glistening love when the light kisses it just so.

When I doubt the call, the sacrifice, the word…I remember a lone set of footprints.

I remember the sifting.//
