Dear Emily, a poem

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

Were we but a color on the bird that carried you
From this life to home, we would have
Heard the Lilac-Breasted Roller sing karibu, karibu;
Her wings in an elegant dance on the winds
of Heaven.

Were we but the angel that opened the door
To welcome you home, we would have
Seen the majesty of God’s almighty embrace
Whispered to Earth in the language
of His grace.

Mama, Mke, Dada, Binti
Mother, wife, sister, daughter
Heaven welcomes you
In peace, with love, in celebration of your
Humility, your grace, your abounding joy

We pray blessings upon your life and your journey to heaven, sweet friend.
