Begin Again: Awakening Your Giant by Melissa Pereira

“What is there left for me?” How can I pick up the pieces of the brokenness that I call my life? I walk with my head hanging low.  The weight of sin keeping me on a short leash, jerking me back to the so-called reality of my world.  What will it take to see change happen? It is the question that one must ask when muddled deep in uncharted territory.  Renegade faith is like no other because it challenges you to abandon your norms.  It pushes you to step outside of the borders that you define as safe.  Faith requires you to talk BIG, become DARING and live FEARLESSLY!

Like any Christian, I’d heard countless sermons and teachings on the subject matter.  Faith is one  of the most crucial kingdom principles in the bible.  We can be knowledgeable in the written word of God, but, it’s about the application.

Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. – Matthew 21:21 (NLT)

You find yourself swimming in debt;

A marriage that is on the rocks because you just found out that your spouse was having a 3-year secretive affair;

You were just informed by your manager that your position has been eliminated; or like me, you have lost is ALL.

Jesus said, “you can do things like this and more..”  First, that’s an indication that we must act.   Second, and this is where it gets exciting because — WAIT; He goes on by adding, “and much more..” He does not limit us because we serve a more God.  He has given you and me, the soul grace to start over again and boldly operate our faith in Christ.

Faith activates the hand of God, and that’s when things begin to miraculously happen on our behalf!

Friends, as I type these words today, any person would say that there is no hope left for me.  But, Praise be unto God that my life is not defined by my current situation.  My faith has allowed me to rise above my present-day circumstances.  Faith was requiring of me to dig deep, and sift through all the mess that the struggles of life can bring.  As a result, it has strengthened my walk with Christ and helped me overcome obstacles I never realized I was capable of achieving in the Lord!

My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. – Psalm 121:2 (NKJV)

One of my favorite bible tales is the story of David and Goliath.  In 1 Samuel 17, for the past 40 days, Goliath kept mocking the armies of Israel.  The Israelites were so afraid of this Philistine giant that no one dared to challenge him all except for one.  At the urging of his Father, David went to the Israelite camp to take food to his brothers; and to bring report of their well-being back home.  All of a sudden, he heard the threatening words of Goliath.  What was David’s response?

David asked the soldiers standing nearby, “What will a man get for killing this Philistine and ending his defiance of Israel? Who is this pagan Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?” – 1 Samuel 17:26 (NLT)

David’s counter-response was just as loud and challenging as Goliath.  David wasn’t going to allow anyone to talk “smack” about his people; moreover, his God. Renegade faith was activated in David’s soul, and he single-handedly defeated the enemy with one blow.  His faith paved a way for victory.

Friends, the same applies for you and me.  We serve the same God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob.  Their faith produced miracles, victories and even secured a genealogy that would birth the Messiah.

As believers, let us begin to exercise our faith in ways that will speak of the personal encounter that we experience as children of God.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. – Hebrews 4:16 (NLT)

I am a proud Latina mamí of two beautiful children.  I currently reside in the hip community of Brooklyn, New York.  Doing life with my family is what I value, and treasure the most.  On occasion, I may break out in a happy dance because God has given me a second chance at life.  My passion for writing stems from my love of wanting to share the gospel of Christ with humor, grace, and joy.
